A very beautiful and tasty fruit, strawberries are a gift from the Universe! High in polyphenol content, strawberries can help to contribute to gut health. Moreover, strawberries are very low in sugar and calories. They’re a great source of folate, potassium, fiber, vitamin C and manganese and are packed with anti-oxidants!
What more could one asked for from these fragrant, juicy, sweet tasting heart-shaped beauties? It’s strawberry season. Run to your local market and fill up your basket with these natural goodies. Better yet, make a day of it and pick your own strawberries for the freshest berries you’ll ever taste. If possible, buy organic as these babies are listed on the Environment Working Group’s Dirty Dozen list, (meaning they are heavily pesticided when grown conventionally).
